Well well well, this might make things heat-up even more. I remember announcing to people that I would not vote for gender or ethnicity, and a lot of women jumped on my back for not supporting Hillary. I'm glad someone else shares my sentiment. I'm shocked that McCain has lasted this long.
So eloquent. I loved this part:
"When, I wondered, was the last time this country was guided by such a leader? Someone whose moral center was un-embargoed? Someone with courage instead of mere ambition?"
..and also in the beginning when she talks about how she is basing her decision partly on the "quality of mind of the candidate." WOW. I'm sure Hillary doesn't like that statement.

Also - I read Baby Love, and I loved it. I know there has been controversy about certain statements you make in it, but I set that aside and really love the book simply because it's a chance to read about a woman of color and her experiences and thoughts about life. I can see myself in it, and I identify with many of your struggles, and in that way it is very reaffirming and makes me feel both calmed and stronger in a sense when I read it. So, thank you!
I thought it was interesting that a few minutes after I read this post I heard that 50 Cent is supporting Hillary. So it seems that when it comes to celebrity endorsements, Hillary seems to be losing out to Barack in terms of quality of supporters since Gloria Steinem. But who knows, we may begin to see more big endorsements for Hillary, it was just funny to think that 50 Cent could never give such eloquent words of support like Toni Morrison did!
50 Cent? I wonder if he wants to invite HIlary into the Candy Shop? How can that be possible? I really think we ought to move on to strategizing the McCain issue.
Hey Nicole! Thanks for posting. I just got the paperback of Baby Love in and other than being beautiful, if I do say so myself, I did remove the reference to adoption. It was a very difficult decision, especially because of all the notes I got from adoptees (rather than their parents) thanking me for speaking for them.

wow - i bet that was a hard decision to make. i can only imagine what it's like to write about your life under such a huge spotlight - there must be so many decisions about what to include, what not to, who it will affect, etc., though you want to tell the truth of your life as you know it. anyway, the point of your book is so much larger than the adoption comment, and that will endure regardless of the edit.
