How Serfdom Saved the Women’s Movement

How Serfdom Saved the Women’s Movement

Very interesting article on the politics of mother/nanny relationship. Long, but worthwhile. What do you think?

I thought this article was very good. A lot of people don't like C.F. b/c they think she's conservative, and while she can be a bit polemical (though I think she says some of those things to get attention) I think she's basically right on this one.

I read her collection of essays and liked it too, even if I didn't agree with everything and there were a few inconsistencies.

I really liked your take on the nanny thing in that essay collection, Searching for Mary Poppins (I think was the name of it). Have your views changed now that you have a child?

C.F. is such a fantastic writer that I generally forgive for the things she says that piss me off. She's so good at provoking. I love her excuse-free honesty. It's refreshing to read writing by a woman who doesn't seem to be apologizing for herself through the whole piece. I think the really opened things up for us when she came on the scene in that regard.
