so now we're striving for a female culture of mediocrity? to match that of the most laughable/heinous males in politics?! Yuck!
As a black child w an african name in a predominently white school being told to change my speech, remove my piercings, be less sexual(a prematurelly sexuallized, degrading way of telling me to be more invisable), I realized homogenized personhood is more easily accepted by majorities. in weak moments I wished I had expensive lables or a hockey mom like decoy to make myself fit in, double yuck!!
If Palin can't side with a rape or incest victim's right to choose, the Lilly Ledbetter Act, or any of the issues raised by Republican Majority for Choice (for crying out loud!) I can draw no connection between her candidicy and giant steps for feminism.
This year of the woman thing has been troubling at best not liberating. Our leadership is neither unified nor representative.

What this so-called year of the woman has taught me is that this country is still not ready for a capable, intelligent, ambitious woman in power.

And I don't know how anybody could think that a female VP candidate who knows nothing about policy and who can't even answer simple questions from the media without sounding like a fool represents progress for women.
